The Triennial Exhibition of Visual Arts in Rome, certainly one of the most important and prestigious events of 2014, will be inaugurated by Prof. Achille Bonito Oliva.

Bonito Oliva is the most famous contemporary art critic, known for having launched the Transavanguardia movement at international level: the last true Italian avant-garde that has been publicly recognized. Thanks to him Cucchi, Paladino, Chia, Clemente and De Maria have imposed their talent in America and throughout the world, reaching record figures at auctions. Bonito Oliva was the curator of the 45th Venice Biennale.

He is included in all the major encyclopedias. In 1989 Vittorio Sgarbi drafted the entry “Achille Bonito Oliva” in the Bompiani Encyclopedia: a respectful homage from Sgarbi to the “Master” of art critics.

In 1993 Bonito Oliva oversaw the Appendix of Storia dell’Arte by Giulio Carlo Argan and in 2002 he added to the grand text of Argan the concluding chapters entitled “L’arte oltre il Duemila“.

In 1993 Art News has placed Bonito Oliva among the six most influential critics in the world. Since 1968 he has been teaching Contemporary Art History at “La Sapienza” University.
He collaborates with major newspapers and magazines such as: La Repubblica, Il Giornale dell’Arte, Il Corriere della Sera, L’Espresso, Il Giorno, Flash Art.

He has been author and protagonist of programs on Raiuno, Raitre and Sky: Autoritratto dell’arte contemporanea, RAI 3 (1992-1996); Totòmodo, l’arte spiegata anche ai bambini, RAI 3 (1995); A.B.O. Collaudi d’arte, RAI 1 (2000); A.B.O.rdo delle Arti and A.B.O. Il giorno della creazione, Sky (2004-2005).
